Stylish, magnificent, and horrifying – this is our definition of this old-time serial. Everything is beautiful in this Black-n-White horror story. Needless to say, how sophisticated the decoration is, as it’s the early 20th century and the Art Deco style is flourishing on its peak. Evidently, manners of “Les Vampires” can seem weird enough for the modern viewers, but surely, it is an absolute masterpiece of cinematography. In addition, it has genuine French grace.
The Gaumont studio performed “Les Vampires” in 1915. The plotline shows the on-goings of one of the Paris Apache gangs known as “The Vampires.” Two central characters – the journalists and his side-kick are trying to hunt down and stop that insane coterie. Pale face, glamorous look, and unexpected actions add some inimitable charm to this film. More to that, the Gothic atmosphere of this 10-episode silent movie curdles the blood and hypnotizes from the very start of the review.
