New York City book publisher and aspiring author Gerry North loves his ditsy wife, Pam North, despite her scatterbrained ramblings often complicating and confusing their lives. After both are concurrently away from their apartment for approximately twenty-four hours, Gerry in Boston on business and Pam visiting her mother, they return home having the feeling that someone has been there, that feeling corroborated by other information they receive.
